A lot of publishers kindly send me copies of books in advance of publication for review. I do my best to keep up but unfortunately I receive way more books than I can ever read. However, I do continuously get excited about what books are coming out soon so I’ve decided to start recording monthly videos of my book hauls and the ones I’m most interested in reading that will be published within the UK in the upcoming month. I’ve recorded videos for September and October so far. In my latest one, I do an impression of Douglas Coupland’s portrait on the back of his new book “Bit Rot” and show the picture of an armadillo Ali Smith drew for me in her new book “Autumn” – a much-anticipated first novel in her sequence of novels titled for the seasons. I talk about gorgeous new editions of some Virginia Woolf titles, Nell Zink’s third novel "Nicotine", Margaret Atwood’s "Hag-Seed" - her remix of Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ as part of the Hogarth Series, Chilean writer Alejandro Zambra’s experimental novel ‘Multiple Choice’, Sebastian Barry’s latest novel “Days Without End”, a large anthology of British & Irish poetry edited by Carol Ann Duffy & Gillian Clarke and Sinéad Gleeson’s follow up to “The Long Gaze Back” – a new anthology centred around Northern Irish Women Writers titled “The Glass Shore”. Any of these books tickle your fancy or are there any other books coming out in October that you’re excited to read? Also, do you think I should continue making these videos or is there anything else you'd like to see me discuss in them?
